About Summer Conference
The 2024 Summer Conference has something for all levels of managers. Day one’s line-up will take place at Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club (Hendersonville, TN). The day will include chapter business meetings, lunch, yacht club tour, and education centered around CMAA’s mentoring and career development programs. We are pleased to welcome Dawn Coleman as the featured speaker. Dawn is the Vice President of Career and Learning Development for CMAA.
The day will be capped off with an fun networking event at the Nashville Sounds Baseball game where we’ll eat, drink, and mingle in one of the Sounds’ premier hospitality suites.
The speaker line-up for day two is a homerun that includes Debra F. Cannon, Director & Associate Professor, Georgia State School of Hospitality, and Chris Coulter, CCM, ECM, Vice President of Club Consulting, McMahon Group.
Day two will also feature a General Managers discussion panel. The panel will include an all-star roster of general managers with a combined 75+ years of service, mentoring, and experiences in the hospitality industry. A highlight not to be missed!

Debra Cannon specializes in hotel management and human resource management in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining Georgia State University, she worked with the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company and Hyatt Hotels. Her research interests have focused on high performance service organizations, organizational culture, organizational commitment and work teams.

Chris W. COULTER
Chris provides consulting services for strategic planning, membership surveys, facility improvement programs, and general consulting expertise on club needs. In addition, Chris also provides specialty consulting in operations, buyouts, capital fundraising, facility conditions and membership. Prior to joining The McMahon Group, Chris served as the CEO of The Westmoor Club, Nantucket – a Platinum club.

Dawn Coleman joined the CMAA National Headquarters team in 2023. In her role as the Vice President, Learning and Career Development, she provides oversight and direction of the education and career development programs in accordance with CMAA’s mission to advance the profession of club management through fulfilling the educational needs of the membership by providing state of the art educational programs, information, and resources.

Joe MENDEZ, CCM, CCE
Joe Mendez, CCM (Certified Club Manager), CCE (Certified Chief Executive), was elected the Chairman of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) Board of Directors at its 2024 World Conference and Club Business Expo, held in Las Vegas, NV. Mendez was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2017. Mendez currently serves as the General Manager/COO at Doylestown Country Club in Doylestown, PA.
